It’s not enough to just post on social media these days. A successful social media marketing campaign requires that followers actually engage with your content. Easier said than done, right? Here’s one commonly overlooked tactic BEM frequently employs to achieve incremental engagement for our clients.

Challenge: Our clients often look to us as a resource for cost-effective ways to maximize their promotional reach while minimizing cost. This can be particularly challenging when it comes to social media since newsfeed algorithms prioritize paid posts over organic ones. On average, a Facebook page’s organic posts are reaching only ~6% of their potential audience. And studies indicate this rate is declining even more over time.

Solution: Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best ones.

To help our clients boost awareness and engagement without exhausting their budget, we encourage their performing talent to engage directly with our organic posts. For example, artists including John Cleese, Travis Tritt, and Big & Rich each posted comments such as “I can’t wait!” and “Who will I see there?!” Every engagement with an artist via posts gives fans a deeper sense of connection with the performer. This basic, yet widely overlooked tactic makes a massive impact on engagement and sales.

Results: Across every client for which we’ve implemented this tactic, organic reach has increased by as much as 640%. In one instance, we coordinated a comment from comedy icon John Cleese on a post published on the promoter’s Facebook page. In just two days, this grew to over 6,000 engagements!

He did. And so did the numbers.

John’s comment helped this post reach 308,319 people and generated 10,188 engagements.

The numbers don’t lie.

One comment from Travis reached 115,748 people and generated 4,686 engagements.

Big & Rich commented that they couldn’t wait for the show and it reached 108,902 people and yielded 4,765 engagements!

This tactic’s effectiveness has proven to be repeatable over time and across a variety of clients.
